Breeze Inn Cottage — This charming cottage is the personal family home of author Mary Kay Andrews, who furnished and named it with a nod to the fictional Breeze Inn motel in her New York Times bestselling novel SAVANNAH BREEZE. Step back in time in this 1940s-inspired Tybee beach cottage remodeled as Weezie Foley would have done it—with reclaimed heart pine floors throughout, reclaimed solid-wood doors with antique hardware, painted plank walls, hexagon tiled bathroom floors, and vintage fixtures. Even the hibiscus pink front screened door was a treasure from a New England antique market. The cottage is decorated throughout with family-friendly vintage and antique treasures collected from estate sales and flea markets around the country by Mary Kay Andrews.
Located on quiet 2nd Avenue, on Tybee Island’s bike trail, the circa 1943 cottage is an easy two-block walk to 9th Street beach walk-over, and an easy stroll to grocery store and restaurants. Off-street parking for three cars. The Breeze Inn has three bedrooms and three full baths and sleeps nine and was totally restored and remodeled in 2009. Step through the white picket fence, past rustling palm trees, scented jasmine and blooming pink roses and into a bygone era—albeit one with every modern convenience. |
